Flaw detector checks common defects in forgings

Apr 09, 2023 Leave a message

Shrinkage cavity defects will appear when the cutting head of forging steel ingot is insufficient, more at the end of forging. The non-dense and undissolved holes formed during the solidification and shrinkage of the steel ingot will cause loosening, more of which exist in the center of the steel ingot and the head. Inclusions include internal inclusions, external non-metallic inclusions and metal inclusions, most of which have cores and heads. Cracks mainly include casting cracks, forging cracks, heat treatment cracks, etc. Due to improper forging and heat treatment, most of them occur on the surface or heart of forgings. The white spots are caused by the high hydrogen content of the forgings and excessive hydrogen cooling after the forgings, and are mainly concentrated in the central part of the large cross-section of the forgings.
