TOFD Wedge

TOFD wedge is a component used in Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) ultrasonic testing. It holds the ultrasonic transducer at a specific angle, typically between 45° and 70°, to direct sound waves into a material. The wedge helps detect flaws by controlling the sound wave path, ensuring effective contact with the surface, and maintaining the correct spacing between the transmitting and receiving transducers. It is typically made from materials like Rexolite or Organic glass to ensure efficient sound wave transmission.
