HS 900GW operates by utilizing the principles of the piezoelectric effect. It uses a specialized ultrasonic probe, designed in a contact-oriented manner with an angled wedge, harnesses ultrasonic oblique beams to generate guided waves within metallic elements. This configuration is particularly adept at swiftly assessing materials like tubes, rods, and plates.

Guided wave detection offers notable advantages, including its capacity for long-range signal transmission, exceptional accuracy in identifying targets, minimal signal degradation, impressive operational efficiency, and low cost.
